A betta akarensis has a stunning appearance and elegant body. male are larger than female betta, their fins are broad and extended compared to females, a male generally dominated to dark red color. Females come with a different color which is silver and extensive dark color strips head to the root of the tail. The size of the betta generally is 7-8 cm.

Males grow larger and develop more extended fins and a greater amount of iridescent scale. The male top part is more noticeable because they are responsible for fertilizing eggs.

Breeders develop different varieties of finnage and scale:

Ø Veil tail – the most common tail type seen in aqua or pet stores. uneven tail and expand finagle length; caudally fin ray split into two parts.

Ø Crowntail – Fin rays are constantly increased and make a large crown.

Ø Combtail – Mini version of the crown tail, combination of veil tail and crown tail·

Ø Half Moon – the edges of the tail are straight and crisp; 80 degrees rotated in a D shape creates a shape of the moon·

Over-Halfmoon or Super Delta Tail – Caudal fin expands 180° angle (a derived breed version of the half-moons), which can be problematic to betta during the swim time because it’s difficult to swim with big fin·

Ø Rosetail – fold and crisp overlap finagle overlap with each other which resembles a rose petal so it’s called a rose tail.

Ø Feather tail – same as rosetail, also a rough look of the rosetail, some crisp and freeze.

Ø Plakat – Usually seen in wild bettas Short fins known as biting fish

Ø Halfmoon plakat –; plakat and half-moon cross, short finned halfmoon

Ø Double tail or Full-moon – two lobes enlarged, the tail and dorsal fin is duplicated; individual identity displayed by caudal and twin tail·

Ø Delta tail – tail is not extended as a half-moon, or less extended than 180 degrees.

Ø Half-Sun – Like a half moon, rotate the fin at 180° look like a Combtail
