The Chalcides bedriagai skink is a member of the Scincidae family and is often called Bedriaga's skink. Native to many parts of the Mediterranean, this lizard was named after the Italian herpetologist Jacques von Bedriaga.
In honor of Bedriaga's accomplishments in herpetology, especially his research on reptiles during the late 1800s and early 1900s, the specific epithet "bedriagai" is bestowed upon him. The Mediterranean Sea coasts of Turkey, Greece, and Italy are the most common habitats for these skinks.
