There is a broad range of possible coat textures in the Chipoo breed, from smooth short hair to curly long manes. Due to reduced potential for matting and tangling, shorter coats may need less regular brushing.

Nevertheless, regular brushing may still be necessary to eliminate unruly hair while keeping a healthy coat. More frequent and thorough brushing may be required to prevent matting and keep the coats of Chipoo Dogs with longer, curlier hair looking their best.

Brushing your Chipoo dog regularly is important no matter the length of their hair. By dispersing the coat's natural oils and eliminating stray hair, combing makes the coat look its best.

If your Chipoo Dog has a longer or curlier coat, you may want to brush it more than once a week.

About once every two weeks, or more frequently if necessary, chihuahuas require a bath. Use a moderate dog shampoo formulated for their specific needs to avoid harsh or drying solutions that might strip the coat of natural oils. Care should be taken to ensure that no shampoo is left on their skin when they are finished.

Maintaining your Chipoo Dog's nails is important for his or her overall health and mobility. Nails that are allowed to grow unchecked may cause discomfort and even damage to the joints if they get too long. Nail Clipping: Nails should be cut every few weeks or as needed. Ear Cleaning: Like other dog breeds, Chipoos' floppy ears may trap moisture, making them more prone to ear infections. Ear wax accumulation and infections may be avoided with frequent ear cleaning.

Use cotton swabs or balls and a gentle ear cleaning solution designed for dogs to clean the external ear canal. Put nothing into your ear canal if you value your health.

Regular brushing with a dog-specific toothbrush and toothpaste may prevent plaque accumulation, tartar, and gum disease. Give them dental chews or toys developed for that purpose if you want to help them keep their teeth clean and their gums healthy.
