Characteristics
Pink betta originated in the Southeast Asia basin in Thailand, and Indonesia is the betta fish. This freshwater fish is an experiment. The native is from Southeast Asia, regions such as Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, Myanmar, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Vietnam. Their natural habitat ranges from rice paddies to slow-moving water and flood plains.
A pink betta fish scientifically known as betta splendens belongs to the family of gourami and carries the betta gene. They are a variation of the siaseme fighting fish; which is popular for their fighting spirit.
Pink betta is water fish so they prefer to live in warm environments with a temperature range between 75- 80 F (24 to 28 C). They like acidic water, and the pH value is between 6.0 to 7.0. the hardness should be 5- 20dH.
A betta breathes directly from the air just like a human because of the labyrinth organ. Because of these, they can survive a small amount of time outside the water if needed.
They prefer animal protein in their diet. They prefer a standard diet of pellet food but you can offer them a variety of food such as small fish, brine shrimp, daphnia, bloodworms, mosquito larvae, and earthworms.
Both male and female bettas are aggressive, but the females are less intense and territorial if the space is large; female bettas are also as aggressive as males in their own territory. In nature, the betta is highly aggressive because of artificial selection, although it is violent in the wild.
A betta has a weak immune system, so they easily catch the disease. Ac common diseases of the bettas are fin rot, velvet, ich, etc. With the ideal care and maintenance, you can prevent them from diseases.
Breeding is an important process for this species. Pink betta is a paternal mouth border. Male build a bubble nest for breeding. Starting with courting, the male will circle the female and display vivid color. This change happens during the breeding season, the male color becomes brighter and deeper to attract the female. The male fertilizes and hatching the eggs. Betta can live for 2-3 years.
