For healthy betta, maintaining water parameters is necessary. Good water quality and maintenance of the tank lead a healthy life. We suggest that we regularly change the water. If you put in a large aquarium, change the 20% of water every 15 days.
Properly maintained fish can live 2-3 years happily, although in some cases they survive 4-5 years. Research indicates that betta can live happily and stress-free in a large space with several gallons of water.
Some are common diseases in samurai halfmoon betta:
Fin Rot: it is an infection caused by bacteria and its symptom is fin tearing. The symptoms begin with a spot on the edges of the betta fin The consequence is losing the fin. The reasons behind the bacterial infection because of bad quality, low temperature which is below 78, and the build-up of toxic ammonia compounds. It commonly affects fish that have a weak immune system.
Dropsy: it is a bacterial infection. The symptoms are swelling of the belly area. They are resolved by water maintenance and over-the-counter medicines. The cures are also available for this disease.
Ich: the symptoms show a white spot on the body. It is caused by external parasites that irritate the skin. The symptom is itching on the skin, because of itching they scratch the body with an object placed in the tank, hence its name “ich.” The constant itching and scratches lead to a white spot all over the body. This also causes stress and, in extreme conditions, death. It is also caused by poor water quality.
Pop eye: popeye is a condition where both betta eyes bulge out. It is an underlying condition caused by bacterial infection and poor water conditions.
