Consistency is essential when training Senegal Parrots. Establishing clear cues or commands for desired behaviors and consistently using them helps the bird understand what is expected of it. Likewise, maintaining a consistent training schedule and approach helps reinforce learning and prevent confusion.

Aim for sessions lasting no more than 10 to 15 minutes at a time, and be sure to end on a positive note, even if progress is slow. Keeping training sessions fun and enjoyable for the bird helps foster enthusiasm and a willingness to learn. Begin with basic behaviors such as target training or stepping up onto a perch, then progress to more complex tricks or commands.

Remove any items that could pose a risk to the bird or interfere with the training process, and ensure that the training area is quiet and free from disturbances.

In addition to teaching specific behaviors, training can also help address behavioral issues such as biting, screaming, or feather
