Origin Description

The Dutch sportsman and gundog enthusiast Eduard Karel Korthals is responsible for the invention of the Wirehaired Pointing Griffon, a medium-sized dog breed that originated in Germany in the 19th century. Creating a hunting mate that could have pointed, retrieved, and suggested prey was a base goal for the Korthals. He created the Wirehaired Pointing Griffon by combining many breeds, such as German Shorthaired Pointers, Poodles, and Spaniels.

Although this breed has been recognized by the American Kennel Club in 1955 as well, it is still very rare in the US. However, its popularity is growing, peculiarly as a society dog for families and as an able hunter.

Description

A unique and adaptable sports dog, the Wirehaired Pointing Griffon—also called the Wirehaired Griffon or just Griffon—has its roots in the Netherlands. This breed has an ardent fan base among families and hunters alike because to its attractiveness, intelligence, and friendliness.

The Wirehaired Pointing Griffon was gentle, placeable by its rigid build and rugged, wiry coat, which served to ward against bad bold and thick undergrowth. Their features were characterised by bushy eyebrows, beards, and moustaches, and they demonstrate a colour palette of brown, white, and Frey.
