Like other little dog breeds, Yorkshire Terriers aren't able to withstand very high or low temperatures as well as bigger dogs. Even though they're temperature-tolerant, you should still take extra precautions to keep them safe in very cold or hot weather.

Yorkshire Terriers, being tiny and with a thin coat, have a limited tolerance for cold weather. They have a higher risk of hypothermia and other cold-related illnesses.

Make sure they're warm by giving them appropriate attire or a dog jumper to wear while going outdoors in cooler weather. Keep them indoors as much as possible during the cold weather and restrict their time outside.

Heat exhaustion and heat stroke are more common in Yorkshire Terriers than in larger dogs because of their diminutive stature and impaired thermoregulation. To protect children from overheating in hot weather, make sure they have access to cool, shady areas, and water, and don't do too much physical activity when it's too hot. Extreme heat may quickly kill a Yorkshire Terrier, therefore you should never leave one in a hot vehicle alone.

It's important to keep an eye on how your Yorkshire Terrier acts and feels in various climates. Fleeing in cooler or warmer areas, trouble breathing, heavy panting, and general lethargy are all symptoms of pain or suffering. Make an emergency appointment with your vet if you think your Yorkshire Terrier is having problems due to the weather.
